Saina Nehwal loses in All England championship semis

Birmingham: World No. 3 shuttler Saina Nehwal lost to Thailand's Ratchanok Inthanon in the semifinal of All England Open Badminton Championships on Saturday.

The Olympic bronze medalist went down to the eighth seeded Thai player 15-21, 19-21 at the National Indoor Arena. Nehwal had stormed into the last four of the prestigious tournament after beating former World No. 1 Shixian wang of China in a thrilling three-game match on Friday.

The only Indians to win the title are Prakash Padukone (1980) and Pullela Gopichand (2001). the 22-year-old Nehwal also lost in the semifinal of the UDS 400,000 Super Series event in the 2010 edition.
