Bengaluru, January 28: India's Saina Nehwal lost 9-21, 13-21 to world No.1 Tai Tzu Ying in the final of the Indonesia Masters badminton tournament in Jakarta.
Tai, also became the first player from her country to win the Indonesian Masters crown, while Saina, the London Olympics bronze medallist, could not improve on her 5-8 head-to-head record against Tai.
Tai had earlier defeated Chinese eighth seed He Bingjiao 19-21, 21-15, 21-15 in the semifinal while Saina overcame Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon 21-19, 21-19 in another last-four tie that lasted 48 minutes.
The 27-year-old from Hyderabad can still take a lot of positives from her Jakarta outing as she was reaching the final of an international competition after a year following her title triumph at Malaysia Masters last year.
