Singapore Open 2026: PV Sindhu & Lakshya Sen Lead India’s Charge as Top Shuttlers Aim For Form Revival
India’s leading badminton players aim to reset form in Singapore. Lakshya Sen and PV Sindhu head a large Indian squad. The USD 1,000,000 Singapore Open Super 750 starts Tuesday. Both stars chase consistency and seek to end long title droughts.
Lakshya, the reigning Commonwealth Games champion, wants a strong response. He lost in the first round last week. He begins against China’s Lu Guang Zu. Lakshya won the Australian Open last November. He was the All England runner-up earlier, narrowly missing another major title.

Sindhu leads India in women’s singles in Singapore. She starts against Indonesia’s fifth seed, Putri Kusuma Wardani. Sindhu made the Thailand Open quarterfinals recently. Injuries in 2025 affected her rhythm. Since then, she has faced early exits in many BWF events.
Youngster Ayush Shetty carries strong recent form into Singapore. He was the Asian Championships runner-up this season. He also helped India win the bronze in the Thomas Cup. Ayush opens against Canada’s Victor Lai. Lai is last year’s World Championships bronze medallist in men’s singles.
Attention will also be on Kidambi Srikanth and HS Prannoy. Both are 33, and they seek stable results again. Former world No. 1 Srikanth plays Loh Kean Yew. Loh is the 2021 world champion and local favourite. Srikanth beat him at the Thailand Open.
Prannoy faces a difficult opening test in Singapore. He meets Indonesia’s fifth seed, Jonatan Christie. Prannoy took bronze at the 2023 World Championships. He also claimed bronze at the 2023 Asian Games. Both results underlined his status as a big-match player.
Singapore Open 2026: All Eyes On Unnati Hooda
Unnati Hooda enters as world No. 22 in women’s singles. She won the Polish Open earlier this year. Unnati faces the eighth seed, Tomoka Miyazaki. The Japanese player is a former junior world champion. Malvika Bansod returns from an ACL injury. She plays Lin Hsiang Ti.
India’s top men’s doubles pair also returns to action. Fourth seeds Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty face Americans Chen Zhi Yi and Presley Smith. They recently made the Thailand Open Super 500 final. Hariharan Amsakarunan and M.R. Arjun meet Japan’s seventh seeds Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi.
Several Indian women’s doubles teams enter the draw. Kavipriya Selvam and Simran Singhi face Spain’s Paula Lopez and Lucia Rodriguez. Rutaparna and Swetaparna Panda meet Thailand’s Phattharin Aiamvareesrisakul and Sarisa Janpeng. Ashwini Bhat K. and Shikha Gautam play Chang Ching Hui and Yang Ching Tun of Chinese Taipei.
