PV Sindhu has reached the first final of 2023 calendar year with a dominant victory in the Spain Masters. The Indian shuttler defeated Singapore's Yeo Jia Min in straight sets in Madrid on Saturday (April 1).
Sindhu completed victory with consecutive wins in the sets as she beat Yeo Jia Min 24-22, 22-20 to reach the final. The match took only 48 minutes as Sindhu completed her fourth straight victory over the Singaporean shuttler.

Sindhu went into the match as favourite but Yeo Jia Min was winning the first game 14-10 at one time. The Singapore shuttler was leading 20-15 in the 1st set but the Indian saved five game points to restore parity, and then went on to win the set 24-22.
She then continued her momentum to the second game and was leading 17-14, before Yeo came back and made it 20-20, which also involved a controversial decision. But the Indian shuttler made no mistake after her opponent drove one wide and opened up the game with a match-point opportunity. Sindhu didn't have to exercise too much for that as Yeo rattled one return to the nets to end the match.
PV Sindhu will be facing either top-seed Spanish shuttler Carolina Marin or Indonesia's Gregoria Mariska Tanjung in the final on Sunday (April 2).
