India's PV Sindhu and Lakhsya Sen among the shuttlers from the country to exit the Swiss Open 2024 following defeats in the second round of their respective matches at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland on Thursday (March 21) night.
Former champion and fourth seed Sindhu dropped a first game lead and lost to 17-year-old Japanese Tomoka Miyazaki by a scoreline of 21-16, 19-21, 16-21 in the women's singles second round match that lasted 79 minutes on court 1.

Seventh seed in the men's singles competition, Sen, on the other hand, went down in straight games 17-21, 15-21 to Chinese Taipei's Lee Chia-hao in 38 minutes on court 4.
Sixth seeded women's doubles pair of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa also exited the tournament following straight games defeat to Japanese pair Rui Hirokami and Yuna Kato by a scoreline of 17-21, 16-21 in 58 minutes.
Mixed doubles pairs B Sumeeth Reddy and Sikki Reddy as well as Satish Kumar Karunakaran-Adhya Varuyath also bowed out after straights games defeats in their respective second round encounters on court 1 and 4.
While Sumeeth-Sikki duo lost to Dutch pairing of Robin Tabeling and Selena Piek 11-21, 14-21 in just 28 minutes, Satish-Adya pair suffered a 17-21, 14-21 loss to third seeded pair from Malaysia Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei in 33 minutes.
However, there was something to cheer for India on Thursday (March 21) as women's doubles pair of Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand and men's singles trio of Kidambi Srikanth, Priyanshu Rajawat and Kiran George all progressed to the quarterfinals.
Eighth seeds Treesa-Gayatri eased past compatriots Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra in 36 minutes by a scoreline of 21-10, 21-12 to book a last eight meeting with Australian duo Setyana Mapasa and Angela Yu on Friday (March 22).
In men's singles, Srikanth defeated top seed Lee Zii Jia of Malaysia by straight games 21-16, 21-15 in 36 minutes to set up a quarter-final meeting with Chinese Taipei's Lee Chia-hao.
Rajawat defeated China's Lei Lan Xi by a scoreline of 21-14, 21-13 in 38 minutes on court 3 to book a last eight clash against Chinese Taipei's fifth seed Chou Tien-chen.
Meanwhile, Kiran bounced back from a game down against France's Alex Lanier by a scoreline of 18-21, 22-20, 21-18 to reach the quarter-finals, where he will face Denmark's Rasmus Gemke.
