2022 World Junior Championship silver medallist and qualifier Sankar Subramanian will take on Christo Popov of France in the men's singles last eight match after stunning second-seed, Anders Antonsen of Denmark in the second round on Thursday (March 20).

Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand set for Swiss Open 2025 quarter-final challenge

The 2024 German Open and Hylo Open champion Popov, on the other hand, fought hard in three games to overcome Japan’s Yushi Tanaka to seal his quarter-final berth. This will be the first meeting between Subramanian and Popov.

In women’s doubles, Treesa and Gayatri eased past Germany’s Amelie Lehmann and Selin Hubsch to seal the last eight berth against Hong Kong, China’s Yeung Nga Ting and Yeung Pui Lam.

The Hong Kong duo, meanwhile, eased past Chinese Taipei pair Chiu Pin-Chian and Tung Ciou-tong to reach the women’s doubles quarter-final. This will be the third meeting between the Indian and Hong Kong pair.

In their previous two meetings, the scores are level at 1-1 with Jolly and Gopichand winning the first encounter – a first round contest in 2023 Malaysia Masters, while Nga Ting and Pui Lam won the most recent clash – first round of 2023 Singapore Open.
