India's Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will be in women’s doubles semi-final action against China’s top seeds Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning at the Swiss Open 2025 badminton tournament, which is taking place in Basel, Switzerland.
Treesa and Gayatri overcame Hong Kong, China’s Yeung Nga Ting and Yeung Pui Lam by straight games to book their last four berth. The fourth seeded Indian pair defeated the eighth seeds from Hong Kong by a scoreline of 21-18, 21-14 in the quarter-final on Friday (March 21).

The top seeded Chinese duo, on the other hand, defeated Chinese Taipei pair Hsieh Pei-Shan and Hung En-Tzu in straight games 21-14, 21-10 to book their seventh meeting with the Indian pair.
In their previous six meetings, Liu and Tan pairing have got the better Jolly and Gopichand five times, including last week’s All England Open 2025 quarterfinal showdown. Treesa-Gayatri’s solitary win came back in 2023 during the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships quarter-final match.
Since winning their first match against the Chinese duo, Treesa and Gayatri have suffered defeats to Liu and Tan at last year’s BWF World Tour Finals, Hong Kong Open, China Masters and Badminton Asia Championships.
