India's top women's doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand as well as qualifier Sankar Subramanian entered the quarterfinals of the Swiss Open 2025 following contrasting wins on Thursday (March 20) at the St. Jakobshalle, Basel, Switzerland.
Treesa and Gayatri duo registered a straight-game victory over Germany's Amelie Lehmann and Selin Hubsch by a scoreline of 21-12, 21-8 in the women's doubles second round contest that lasted 38 minutes.

The Indian pair will next be up against Hong Kong, China's Yeung Nga Ting and Yeung Pui Lam in the quarterfinals on Friday (March 21) when they will be joined only by Subramanian, who stunned world number 2 Anders Antonsen to enter the men's singles last eight round.
Subramanian, ranked 64th in the world, fought back from a game down to defeat second seed Antonsen by a scoreline of 18-21, 21-12, 21-5 to secure the biggest win of his career in the men's singles contest that lasted an hour and 6 minutes.
The 21-year-old former World Junior Championships silver medallist in 2022, who had beaten Magnus Johannesen in the first round, will next face France's Christo Popov, World No. 31, in the last eight match on Friday for a place in the semifinals.
While Treesa-Gayatri and Subramanian kept India's challenge alive at the Swiss Open Badminton Championship, several shuttlers from the country, including former world number 1 Kidambi Srikanth, made a second-round exit on Thursday (March 20).
Srikanth, who reached round two by defeating compatriot HS Prannoy, meekly surrendered to China's world No 6 Li Shi Feng by a scoreline of 15-21 11-21 in less than 40 minutes, while fellow men's singles shuttler Priyanshu Rajawat lost to Toma Popov in straight 21-15 21-17 in 47 minutes.
In women's singles, Isharani Baruah went down fighting 21-19, 18-21, 21-18 to China's Han Qian Xi in 63 minutes, while Anupama Upadhyaya was ousted following a 17-21, 19-21 loss to Indonesia's world no. 11 Putri Kusuma Wardani in 41 minutes.
Meanwhile, the mixed doubles pair of Sathish Karunakaran and Aadya Variyath also made a second-round exit following a 14-21, 16-21 loss in 33 minutes to Liu Kuang Heng and Jheng Yu Chieh of Chinese Taipei.
