India's challenge in Thailand Masters 2024 ended on Saturday (February 3) after Ashmita Chaliha lost her semi-final match to fourth seeded Supanida Katethong at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Playing in her first semi-final on the BWF World Tour, the 24-year-old suffered a straight games loss by a scoreline of 13-21, 12-21 to Thailand's Katethong in 35 minutes on Court 1.

Chaliha, who was the lone Indian to reach the semi-final stage in the ongoing BWF Super 300 tournament, was no match to the superiorly ranked Thai opponent in both the games.
The battle between the two left-handed shuttlers turned out to be a one-sided affair as Supanida moved to a comfortable 8-3 lead and kept charging ahead to take the opening game.
The second game was a similar story as Ashmita could manage 6-7 before falling apart as Supanida reeled off nine of the next 10 points to take the match beyond the Indian's reach.
The Guwahati-born shuttler had earlier registered wins over Malaysia's Wong Ling Ching, Chinese Taipei's Pai Yu Po and Indonesia's Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo enroute to her first semi-final run on the BWF World Tour.
As a result of her semi-final defeat, the Indian challenge at the tournament came to an en, while Thailand's Katethong set up a final meeting with Japan's third seed Aya Ohori on Sunday (February 4).
Earlier on Friday (February 2), Chaliha was the lone winner as a men's singles contestant and a women's doubles team in contention for a semifinal spot failed to win their respective quarter-final matches and bowed out of the tournament.
In men's singles, Mithun Manjunath, who had ousted Kidambi Srikanth to reach the quarterfinal, lost in straight games 19-21, 15-21 to Dutch shuttler Mark Caljouw in the last 8 match that lasted 43 minutes on Court 2.
In women's doubles, Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand pair, who reached the last 8 after downing Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa, went down fighting to fourth seeds Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi of Indonesia by a scoreline of 12-21, 21-17, 21-23 in an hour and 7 minutes on court 1.
