Kidambi Srikanth was among several Indian shuttlers to reach the quarter-final stage in the ongoing Thailand Masters 2025 badminton tournament, which is being played at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The former world No. 1 shuttler Srikanth defeated Hong Kong China's Jason Gunawan, 41st in the badminton rankings, by a scoreline of 21-19, 21-15 in the men's singles second round match on Thursday (January 30).

The experienced Indian shuttler fought back from trailing 2-6 to take a 11-9 lead at the interval in the first game before winning the closely contested opener 21-19. In the second game, Srikanth once again took the lead at the mid-game interval and closed the match 21-15.
Srikanth will now face sixth seed Wang Zhengxing of China in the last eight match on Friday (January 31) when another shuttler from India will also be playing his men's singles quarter-final match.
Joining Srikanth will be Sankar Subramanian, who orchestrated a remarkable fightback to defeat Indonesia's Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo with a 9-21, 21-10, 21-17 scoreline in 59 minutes. Subramanian will next be in action against another Chinese shuttler in Zhu Xuanchen.
In women's singles, India's Rakshitha Ramraj booked her quarter-final spot after ousting Tung Ciou-tong of Chinese Taipei with a straight games win 21-15, 21-12 in a match that lasted 40 minutes. Rakshitha will now meet Thamonwan Nithiittikrai of Thailand in the last eight.
Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy and Sai Pratheek K also progressed to the men's doubles quarter-final after the pair won their round of 16 clash against Thailand's Vichayapong Kanjanakeereewong and Narueset Laotherdpong by 14-21, 21-10, 21-9.
The eigth seeded Indian duo will next be up against second seeds from Indonesia, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Daniel Marthin in the last eight contest on Friday (January 31).
While four Indians progressed, there was also one exit as mixed doubles pair of Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Gadde lost their round of 16 clash against local favourites Ratchapol Makkasasithorn and Ruethaichanok Laisuan in straight sets by 21-19, 21-15.
