The 2024 Thomas and Uber Cup will be hosted at the Chengdu High-tech Zone Sports Center Gymnasium in Chengdu, China, starting with the group stages this Saturday (April 27) and will conclude in the following weekend on May 5.
Thomas and Uber Cup is the biennial international badminton championship contested by the men and women's national teams of the member associations of Badminton World Federation (BWF). The tournament was last held in 2022.

A total of 16 teams, including India, will compete in the Thomas & Uber Cup held in China. The 16 teams, divided into four groups of four teams each will play three matches against the other teams of their respective groups with the top two of each group progressing to the knock out rounds.
In the 33rd edition of the Thomas Cup, defending champions, India men have been clubbed alongside last year's runner-up and record 14-time winners Indonesia as well as Thailand and England in Group C.
Meanwhile, the Indian women's team have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts and the most successful nation in the tournament's history - 15-time winner China as well as Canada and Singapore.
While the group stages will be held from April 27 to May 1, the knock out rounds will start with the quarterfinals on May 2 followed by semifinals on May 3 and the finals, Uber Cup on May 4 and Thomas Cup on May 5.

A 10-member team for Thomas Cup will have five singles players with Kiran George joining HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth and Priyanshu Rajawat. The team features a similar one to the 2022 title winning side.
Meanwhile Sai Pratheek will be the back-up doubles player to the two first-choice combinations, namely World No. 1 pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty and MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila.
The Indian women's team will feature only youngsters after seniors like PV Sindhu, Ashwini Ponnappa, Tanish Crasto, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand pairs decided to withdraw from the tournament. Anmol Kharb will spearhead the singles.
The Indian men and women's team will both begin their group stage action on Saturday (April 27) and will conclude their first round action on two different days with the men playing the final group stage match on May 1, and the women on April 30.
