By MyKhel Staff

Thomas & Uber Cup 2026: India's men and women badminton teams received balanced group draws. The 2026 Thomas and Uber Cups will run in Horsens, Denmark. The dates are from April 24 to May 3. Both Indian squads are seeded eighth based on individual world rankings.

Both Indian teams are placed in Group A with China. China is the defending champion and the top seed. The men's team is the 2022 Thomas Cup winners. They share the group with Pan Am champions Canada and Oceania champions Australia.

Indian men target quarterfinal spot from Group A

India's men will start as favourites for a quarterfinal place. Two teams qualify from each group. Their past title in 2022 adds confidence. Canada and Australia hold regional titles but remain lower profile. The matches in Horsens will decide final standings.

Tricky Uber Cup path with Denmark and Ukraine

The women's team faces a tougher group phase. They are clubbed with Denmark and Ukraine. Denmark is the European team championships runners-up. Ukraine took bronze in the same event. India must finish in the top two. That would secure a quarterfinal place.

Here is how the Indian men's and women's teams are grouped:

Event Group Opponents
Thomas Cup (Men) Group A China, Canada, Australia
Uber Cup (Women) Group A China, Denmark, Ukraine

BAI backs teams to compete with top nations

BAI secretary general Sanjay Mishra welcomed the draw. "We have got a decent draw and a chance to reach the quarterfinals in both the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup competitions. We have a strong team that has proved that they can beat any top team on their day, and after reaching the quarterfinals, anything is possible," he said.

India's men made history by winning the Thomas Cup in 2022. It was their first title in the event. The women's team have two bronze medals. Those came in the 2014 and 2016 Uber Cup editions. Both squads now aim for deep runs.
