Indian women's team continued their winning run and assured themselves of a quarter-final spot in the Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2024 with a 4-1 win over Singapore in a Group A clash at the Chengdu High-tech Zone Sports Center Gymnasium in in Chengdu, China, on Sunday (April 28).
The young Indian squad, which had defeated Canada 4-1 in their group opener, had to fight back from a match down after Yeo Jia Min got the better of Ashmita Chaliha 21-15, 21-18 in the first singles tie of the match.

National champions Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra restored parity by winning the doubles rubber 21-15, 21-16 against Xiao En Heng and Yu Jia Jin before Isharani Baruah gave the Asian Champions the lead, beating Insyirah Khan 21-13, 21-16 in just 31 minutes.
Former junior national champions Simran Singhi and Ritika Thaker then wrapped up the tie for India with a thumping 21-8, 21-11 win over Yi Ting Elsa Lai and Michelle Zan.
Anmol Kharab then maintained her unbeaten record in the third and final singles with a 21-15, 21-13 win over Lee Xin Yi Megan. India will now be facing formidable China in the last group clash on Tuesday (April 30).
Following the tie, Shruti Mishra explained the importance of winning against Singapore and added there was a lot of pressure going into the match, but that worked well for them.
"It was a very important match, because if we won this tie we would qualify for sure (to the quarterfinals). So there was a bit of pressure. But the pressure was in a good way. We all are together and it was a great match," Mishra said.
"Even though Ashmita lost, she gave her best. We are happy about that and it was our turn to give our best. Yesterday was our first match. So we weren't that confident. Today we were more confident. The side courts have a little bit of drift. Our court was all right."
The Indian men's team, who are the defending champions in Thomas Cup, opened their campaign with a 4-1 win over Thailand. They will next face England in the second Group C match on Monday (April 29) before their final group game against Indonesia on May 1.
