New Delhi, Jan 7: Top seed Anup Sridhar and Saina Nehwal won their respective singles matches in the Rs nine-lakh prize money Pramod Mahajan All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament here today.
It was a stroll in the park for Sridhar as he halted the seventh seed J B S Vidyadhar winning streak. Anup won the match 21-16, 21-14. In the women section, top seed Saina also didn't face much of a challenge from giant killer Sayali Gokhale in the summit clash. The unseeded could not mount much pressure and she succumbed to 21-10, 21-14. The men's doubles section saw Rupesh Kumar and Sanave Thomas defeated V Dija and Ashkay Dewalkar in a three setter 16-21, 21-19, 21-14. While in the women's doubles meet Aparna Balan and Saina Nehwal brush past the challenge from Anita Ohlan and Dhanya Nayyar in straight sets 21-10, 21-18.
The winners in Men's and Women's singles category won a cool Rs 1,10,000 each, whereas the winners in both the doubles in men's and women's sections will get Rs 60,000 each as prize money.
