"Turn My Run Into a Title": PV Sindhu eyes Maiden French Open Silverware after Storming into Semis
New Delhi, Oct 24: Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu has stormed into the semifinals of the prestigious French Open Super 750 badminton tournament in Paris, keeping India's hopes alive after teammate Ashmita Chaliha bowed out in a hard-fought quarterfinal battle.
While Sindhu's dominant straight-game victory over Chinese Taipei's Chiu Pin-chian showcased her trademark composure, her path to the penultimate stage demanded deep-seated resilience following a perilous escape in her opening match.

Transforming Early Struggles into Tactical Growth
Reflecting on her tournament journey, the former world champion admitted that her initial near-exit served as an essential wake-up call. Having squandered a comfortable ten-point lead in her opener against Thailand's Supanida Katethong, Sindhu completely overhauled her on-court mindset to ensure she never took a scoreboard advantage for granted again.
"I think I learned my lesson in the first round. I was leading, but I allowed my opponent to come back into the match, and that proved crucial in the end."
By treating every single exchange with urgent intensity, she successfully weathered subsequent pressure. Sindhu also emphasized the stabilizing influence of her coach during tense moments, noting that continuous sideline communication is vital for maintaining emotional control and executing necessary strategic shifts under intense competitive stress.
Chasing Maiden French Open Title
Following a disappointing early exit in Denmark the previous week, the world No. 11 has rebounded remarkably, standing proudly as the sole remaining Indian contender in Paris. Despite boasting a legendary trophy cabinet filled with global accolades, the elusive French Open crown has never been added to her collection.
"I am really hoping that this time I can turn my run into a title win... I need to be focused and give 100 per cent."
As she prepares for her upcoming semifinal showdown against Japan's Hina Akechi, Sindhu is refusing to look too far ahead, focusing instead on rigorous physical recovery and meticulous tactical analysis.
