Mumbai, July 28: V K Verma, President, Badminton Association of India (BAI), was unanimously elected Secretary-General of the Badminton Asia Confederation (BAC) for a term of four years during the annual general meeting held in Kuala Lumpur last week.
The BAC first amended its Constitution to revise the term from 2 years to 4 years in its Extra Ordinary General Body meeting before electing the office-bearers for the term 2007-2011, a release said here today.
Also elected unanimously was Gen Sutiyoso, the present Governor of Jakarta, as President of the BAC.
Verma and Sutiyoso will be responsible for closely monitoring the preparation and technical conduct of badminton event during the Bejing Olympic Games in 2008, the release added.
