World Championship: Srikanth ousted in quarterfinals

Bengaluru, August 25: India's campaign in the men's singles in the World Badminton Championship ended on Friday (August 25) as China's world number one Son Wan Ho beat Kidambi Srikanth 21-14, 21-18 in the quarterfinals at Glasgow.

Srikanth lost the first game quite tamely after he committed too many errors, especially with his drop shots.

However, the Indian kept his Chinese opponent on toes with some sparkling display in the second game.

But he could not captialise on the crucial moments and take the game to the decider.

With Srikanth's exit, India's run in the men's section came to an end. They are now pinning hopes on women's singles players Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu to leave a mark in the tournament that otherwise offered only disappointments.
