An athlete and coach, she has a rich history in competitive swimming. She began swimming competitively at age three and competed at the national level before acquiring her impairment. Her passion for the sport was reignited after watching the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, where she discovered she was eligible for Para swimming.

Her journey has been marked by significant injuries. In 2007, she sustained herniated discs in her neck and lower back due to a car accident. Another herniated disc occurred in 2014 during training. Despite these setbacks, she remains dedicated to her sport.
While representing Florida State University in non-Para swimming, she was named the 2006 Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Year. She also competed at the collegiate level for both Florida State University and Rowan University.
She balances her athletic career with family life, being a mother to three children: Apribella Noelle, Loughlin Calianna Kathleen, and Raleigh Ailbe. Her daily routine includes training at 05:00 each morning to be home before her children wake up.
Her philosophy is simple: "You never know what you're going to be able to do tomorrow. But that means that you have to do as much as you can today." This mindset keeps her motivated despite the challenges she faces.
