1 Billion Reach, 384.6 Billion Minutes Views: IPL 2025 Breaks All Viewership Records, RCB win becomes Most Watched T20 Match

By MyKhel Staff

The IPL 2025 has etched its name in the record books, becoming the most-watched edition in the tournament's history. The 18th season of the league reached a staggering one billion viewers across television and digital platforms, delivering a cumulative watch-time of over 840 billion minutes - the highest ever recorded.

JioStar, the exclusive broadcast and streaming partner, led this breakthrough season, riding on the dual narrative of 'Generation Bold' and 'Generation Gold'. The surge in viewership was reflected heavily in digital consumption via JioHotstar, which clocked 23.1 billion views and 384.6 billion minutes of watch-time - a 29% increase year-on-year. A key contributor was the rapid growth of Connected TV (CTV) usage, which rose 49%, signaling a major shift toward large-screen digital viewing in Indian households.

Television continued to be a formidable force, with Star Sports registering 456 billion minutes of watch-time and the highest-ever average TV rating (TVR) across core demographics.

The TATA IPL 2025 Final proved to be a watershed moment, amassing a record 31.7 billion minutes of watch-time across JioStar platforms - the most for any T20 match. On television, the final garnered 169 million viewers and 15 billion minutes of watch time, setting an all-time high. On digital, JioHotstar shattered previous benchmarks with 892 million video views, 55 million peak concurrency, and 16.74 billion minutes of engagement - making it the biggest digital sporting event in T20 history.

This season will be remembered not only for its viewing milestones but also for its compelling narratives. Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally clinched their maiden IPL title, fulfilling the long-awaited dream of Virat Kohli. Additionally, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi stunned the cricketing world by becoming the youngest centurion in IPL history.

JioStar also elevated the viewing experience through innovative digital features including MaxView 2.0, intuitive swipe navigation, curated FAST channels, voice-enabled video search, and multilingual VOD offerings across 12 Indian languages - collectively redefining how India consumes cricket.
