11 jailed Indians hoping for Sreesanth to help them fly
Dubai, Mar 16 (UNI) Every time Indian pace bowler Shanthakumaran Sreesanth takes a wicket in the World Cup, 11 Indians freed from jail will each get a free ticket home, a local company promised.
Snowhite, a menswear chain, said it will provide 11 airline tickets for every wicket taken by Sreesanth.
However, there is a rider. Hiroo D Vassanani, managing director of the company said the distribution of the tickets will be at the discretion of the Indian Consulate here.
''The money for the tickets as per the number of wickets taken by Sreesanth will be paid to the Indian Community Welfare Committee [ICWC],'' he told the The Gulf News.
Revealing the rationale behind choosing Sreesanth over the current crop of cricketers, he added ''Sreesanth was chosen because we wanted to encourage budding cricketers.'' So now irrespective who wins or loses, every prisoners' heart is sure to skip a beat everytime the 'dancing' Sreesanth sends down one of his thunderbolts in the showpiece event.
B S Mubarak, Consul labour and information, said the gesture will encourage more firms to get involved in humanitarian works.
