In 2025, the tournaments such as the ILT20, SA20, and Pakistan Super League (PSL) either advanced or postponed their start dates to accommodate the Champions Trophy.
Now, these leagues are preparing for similar changes ahead of the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup.

According to Cricbuzz, the leagues have been informed that the 2026 T20 World Cup is likely to take place between the second week of February and the first week of March. Tentatively, the tournament could begin on February 10 (Wednesday), though the date for the final remains undecided.
Given that the last T20 World Cup, held in 2024, lasted 30 days (from June 1 to June 29), the upcoming edition could follow a similar timeframe, potentially running from February 10 to March 8 (Sunday).
SA20 has already finalized its window for the next season, scheduling matches from December 26 to January 26. Notably, there will be no international cricket in South Africa during this period, including the traditional Boxing Day Test at Centurion, which has been removed from the calendar. Meanwhile, the ILT20 has yet to announce its schedule, but reports suggest it is likely to begin on January 4 and conclude by February 1, leaving a nine-day gap before the start of the ICC tournament.
The revised ICC schedule will also impact the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The current edition of the tournament, which began on December 30, will conclude on February 7. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is considering altering the tournament's timeframe for the next season to avoid clashing with the ILT20.
"Look, if we want good foreign cricketers to take part in BPL, we cannot fight with ILT20. We need to play BPL at a time when it does not clash with ILT20," BCB president Faruque Ahmed told Cricbuzz in Dhaka.
The PSL is expected to face significant challenges once again as its schedule continues to overlap with the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is planning the 2026 edition of the PSL for April-May to avoid scheduling it during the holy month of Ramadan. However, this means that, for a second consecutive year, the league will miss out on many top international players.
The Big Bash League (BBL) in Australia may also face disruptions due to the revised scheduling of global franchise leagues.
As franchise leagues continue to adapt their schedules, it remains to be seen how these adjustments will impact player participation and the overall success of these tournaments.
