2nd ODI: Jasprit Bumrah reveals the secret behind his yorkers

"I have worked on yorkers, I used to play a lot of tennis ball cricket and bowled many yorkers there."

Today (October 20), at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground here in Delhi, Bumrah was the star for India with the ball. The hosts restricted New Zealand to 242/9 in 50 overs in the 2nd ODI. Captain Kane Williamson topscored for Kiwis with 118. (Series schedule)

The 22-year-old right-arm bowler took 3 for 35 in 10 overs. He was again consistent with his yorkers and got a wicket with one of them (bowled Tim Southee).

Speaking to the host broadcaster "Star Sports", Bumrah revealed that tennis ball cricket helped him to master the art of bowling yorkers.

"I have worked on yorkers, I used to play a lot of tennis ball cricket and bowled many yorkers there," Bumrah, who first shot to fame in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Mumbai Indians, said during the innings break.

On the Kotla pitch, he said, "Wicket was a bit helpful for us. It was on the slower side."

Bumrah said he never goes for wickets and concentrates on containing the batsmen in limited overs matches.

"I never go for wickets. I try to contain the batsmen in limited overs because they will make mistakes (and I will get wickets)," he said.

So far, Bumrah has played 6 ODIs and has taken 14 wickets with a best of 4/22.
