4th ODI: Ajinkya Rahane injures hand, in doubt for rest of Australia tour

Canberra, Jan 20: Already struggling in the series, India were dealt another blow when batsman Ajinkya Rahane was injured during the 4th ODI against Australia here today at the Manuka Oval.

Rahane injured his right hand while fielding on Wednesday (January 20) during the 4th match of the 5-game series. He was off the field and was taken to hospital. He had 4 stitches for the injury sustained on the webbing of his right hand. (Umpire wears helmet)

Is it the end of Australia tour for Rahane?

Australia, who have already sealed the series with an unassailable 3-0 lead, opted to bat first in Canberra today. Captain Steve Smith won the toss. This will be the first time India are chasing a target after having scored 309, 308 and 295 in the first 3 ODIs and lost.

With still 1 ODI remaining in the series (in Sydney on January 23) and 3 Twenty20 Internationals to follow, Rahane, the Mumbai right-hander might miss them. He has scored 2 consecutive half centuries (2nd and 3rd ODIs).
