4th Test: Rain ruins 3rd day's play, India set to lose No. 1 rank

By Oneindia Staff Writer

Port of Spain, Aug 20: Rain again played spoilsport in the 4th and final Test between India and West Indies here at the Queen's Park Oval on Saturday (August 20).

Just like yesterday (August 19), the entire day's play was washed out. For 2 consecutive days, there was not a single ball bowled. Inclement weather had affected the opening day's play too with only 22 overs bowled. West Indies were 62/2 after winning the toss.

Umpires Nigel Llong, left, Gregory Brathwaite, centre, and Rod Tucker inspect the field as a wet ground delays the start of day three of the 4th Test

There were some unusual scenes at the stadium when the outfield was dug up in order to dry the ground. But all their efforts did not materalise to start play.

India are in danger of losing their number one Test rank to Pakistan. Virat Kohli-led team needs to win this Test to maintain their position at the top in the ICC Rankings. With only 2 days of play left and weather not improving, Pakistan are set to claim the top rank.

India have already sealed the Test series with an unassailable 2-0 lead. After the Test rubber India and West Indies will play 2 Twenty20 Internationals in USA on August 27 and 28.
