India Vs WI 4th Test: Second day's play called off without a ball being bowled

By IANS English

Port of Spain (Trinidad), Aug 20: Wet outfield and soggy conditions around the pitch forced the umpires to call of play on the second day of the fourth Test between India and West Indies at Queen's Park Oval here on Friday (Aug 19).

Not a single ball was being bowled on day 2 as the match could well end up in a draw. Though it has been sunny and bright since morning, the first two-hour session was lost after heavy downpour cut short play on the first day from post-lunch session and left the ground with pools of rain water all around on Thursday.

Umpires Nigel Llong, center, Gregory Brathwaite, left, and Rod Tucker inspect inspect the field as a wet ground delays the start of day two of the fourth cricket Test match between India and West Indies at Queen's Park Oval in Port-of-Spain.

"Umpire Red Tucker and Nigel Llong, who inspected the ground at 11.30 a.m., decided to inspect again at 1 p.m., as they were not satisfied with the ground conditions because the infield was still soft," an official said.
