Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) stalwart Virat Kohli on Saturday (May 3) broke another record in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after he crossed the 500-run landmark for the eighth season of the lucrative league.
Kohli achieved that feat when he smashed 62 off 33 balls in RCB's thrilling 2-run victory over arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The result propelled RCB to the top of the IPL 2025 points table with 16 points.

Meanwhile, Kohli's seventh fifty of the season saw him move to the top of the Orange Cap leaderboard with 505 runs in 11 innings. This is the eighth season in which Kohli has crossed the landmark of 500 runs or more in IPL.
Kohli, who won the Orange Cap in 2016 and 2024 seasons, surpassed former Australian opener David Warner's tally of seven seasons of 500 plus runs in the lucrative league. Delhi Capitals batter KL Rahul and former India batter Shikhar Dhawan are the ones that follow Kohli and Warner on the list.
Apart from his initial years in IPL, Kohli has been consistently scoring in the Indian Premier League with his highest for a season being 973 runs in 16 innings in the 2016 edition when RCB fell in the final hurdle against Warner's Sunrisers Hyderabad.
In the 2024 season, Kohli registered his second highest tally of runs for the season by scoring 741 runs in 15 innings during RCB's incredible run to qualify for the playoffs, but the team eventually fell in the eliminator to continue their long wait for their maiden IPL title.
The 36-year-old Indian stalwart is the leading run scorer in IPL, having amassed 8509 runs in 255 innings, including 62 fifties and 8 hundreds, the most by any player in the history of the league. Here is a break down of Kohli's runs in every IPL season so far.
