Bengaluru, February 15: India will take on South Africa in the sixth ODI in SuperSport Park in Centurion on Friday (February 16). India have already won the series but players like MS Dhoni and Kuldeep Yadav can look forward to writing some new pages in history.
Here are a few highlights:
India are on the verge of winning the 5th ODI in a bilateral series in South Africa. Only Australia have managed that feat in 2001-02.
Kuldeep Yadav (16 wickets so far) needs three more wickets to become the highest wicket-taker in a bilateral series in ODI history. Former India pacer Javagal Srinath and leg-spinner Amit Mishra head the list with 18 wickets while former West Indian pacer Patrick Patterson and former SA pacer Craig Mathews are second in the order with 17 wickets.
MS Dhoni requires 33 runs to reach 10000-run mark in the ODIs. He currently has 9967 runs. Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid are members of that club from India.
If he reaches the 10000 mark, Dhoni will become the second designated wicketkeeper to reach the milestone after former Sri Lankan stumper Kumar Sangakkara. Sangakkara has 14,234 runs.
Dhoni needs three more dismissals to reach 400-dismissal mark for India. At present, he has 293 catches and 104 stumpings. He has three catches and as many stumpings for Asia XI.
