A Bright Future Ahead: Sun TV Network Reaps Staggering Revenue Boost, Thanks To Its Sunrisers Franchises

Sun TV Network has seen an extraordinary financial leap in the ongoing calendar year, with its revenue skyrocketing by 138%, courtesy of exceptional performances of their two cricket franchises namely Sunrisers Hyderabad and Sunrisers Eastern Cape. Sunrisers Hyderabad are a professional franchise that competes in India's premier T20 competition, IPL.

On the other hand, SRH's sister franchise, Sunrisers Eastern Cape is an South African professional Twenty20 franchise cricket team that competes in SA20 League. Notably, Sun TV Network generated immense revenue from these teams as it surged from ₹276 crore to ₹659 crore in FY24, which is quite a significant boost for Sun TV.

With both SRH and Eastern Cape excelling well in their respective leagues, it is only going to help Sun TV Network grow financially. Sunrisers Hyderabad: A journey of growth and a step forward

SRH made their IPL debut in 2013, replacing the now-defunct Deccan Chargers. Owned by Sun TV Network, SRH quickly carved out a reputation with compelling performances in the tournament. They have been a consistent competitor in the IPL, winning their first and only title in 2016, by beating Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the showdown.

Over the years, SRH has developed a strong fan base, largely due to their well-balanced squad, strategic leadership. Sunrisers won the title under the captaincy of David Warner. On the other hand, the likes of Rashid Khan and Kane Williamson have been instrumental to their success. SRH reached their second IPL final in 2018 but lost to Chennai Super Kings.

In the 2024 IPL season, SRH put on an impressive show and reached the finals for the third time but finished as runners-up as they lost to Kolkata Knight Riders. Their strong performance in the last season was one of the main reasons they added significantly to Sun TV's revenue spike.
