The war of words between Venkatesh Prasad and Aakash Chopra over KL Rahul has taken over the social media and the cricket fraternity in the last couple of days.
Now Venkatesh has liked a viral video in which Aakash Chopra can be seen praising Bollywood actor and Rahul's father-in-law.
"Mentor, bade bhai (big brother), father-like figure, my guide," the cricketer-turned-commentator can be heard saying with folded hands in front of the Hera Pheri actor.
It all started with the former pacer questioning Rahul's place in the Indian Test squad after his 20-run outing in the first innings of the first Test in Nagpur.
Venkatesh criticised the India opener once again after the 30-year-old got out after scoring 17 in the first innings of the second Test match in Delhi. The former India cricketer shared screenshots of Rahuls' Test numbers before adding that the inclusion of the player in the squad and the eleven shook "belief in Justice".
"His inclusion shakes belief in Justice. SS Das had great potential,so did S Ramesh, both avgd 38+but did not get beyond 23 test matches. Rahul’s consistent inclusion gives an impression of lack of batting talent in India which isn’t true. Last 5 years his avg is below 27 in 47 inn," read one of the tweets from the thread.
It was then that Aakash Chopra came into the picture, suggesting Venkatesh to wait at least the Test match to get over.
"Venky Bhai, Test match chal raha hai. How about, at least, waiting for both the innings to get over. All of us are in the same team i.e. Team India. Not asking you to hold back your thoughts but timing could be a little better. After all, our game is all about the 'timing’," he tweeted.
Aakash did not stop there and took to his YouTube channel to defend Rahul with his numbers in SENA nations and calling Venkatesh's pointed criticism, a personal agenda.
Venkatesh reacted to the "vile video" and called out the former opener for "conveniently and cleverly" misquoting him. He added that referring to a “different view point as agenda because it doesn’t suit his narrative was uncalled for”.
In the final episode of this war of words, Venkatesh declined an offer from Aakash for a one-on-one conversation on his YouTube channel.
Talking about the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy India have taken a 2-0 lead after their six wickets in Delhi. The squad for the last two matches have been announced as Rahul finds himself in the squad but not as the vice-captain of the team. Shubman Gill is most likely to replace him as Rohit Sharma's opening partner for the third Test in Indore from March 1.
