Former India batter Aakash Chopra was deeply impressed when Shaheen Shah Afridi picked up the wicket of Mahmudullah during the World Cup 2023 match involving Pakistan and Bangladesh in Kolkata on Tuesday (October 31).
Shaheen utilized an around-the-wicket approach and effectively moved the ball, leaving Mahmudullah at a loss. The timbers got disturbed as Shaheen secured the essential wicket of Mahmudullah, who was in incredible form.

Chopra hailed the Pakistani speedster for his excellent bowling prowess and said Shaheen reminded him of a certain Pakistani legend from the past.
Chopra also commended the Pakistani pacer for becoming the quickest bowler to scalp 100 wickets in One Day Internationals during only his 51st match. This milestone was reached with the dismissal of Tanzid Hasan Tamim.
"The way Shaheen started here, his numbers are very good against Bangladesh, he is doing very well in this tournament and has reached the landmark (100 ODI wickets) very quickly. He picked up wickets with the new ball and the way he dismissed Mahmudullah with the old ball, I thought that was beautiful," Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
"He came around the stumps and took the ball away. It reminded me slightly of Wasim Akram," he added.
Shaheen Afridi's performance against Bangladesh was instrumental in Pakistan's crucial victory over the Tigers. Pakistan dismantled Bangladesh and thus kept their hopes of semifinals alive. The 23-year-old also leads the pack with 16 wickets so far in the World Cup.
