Aaron Finch leaves hospital after rib injury

By Ians English

Birmingham, June 23: Australia batsman Aaron Finch on Tuesday was discharged from hospital following precautionary X-rays of his rib-cage after he edged a pull shot during an English county cricket match between Yorkshire and Worcestershire.

Finch, batting for Yorkshire in their three-day match, was struck on the chest early on the first morning of the match on Monday, reports cricket.com.au.

The injury forced him to retire hurt. However, he was able to walk from the field unaided and the match continued at Barnt Green Cricket Club in Lickey.

After reportedly spitting up blood, he was taken to hospital for scans and X-rays, but was later released.

"He left the field unaided and it was decided that he should go to hospital for a scan," Yorkshire's Director of Cricket Martyn Moxon said after the incident.

"We are waiting for results of that scan, but felt it was best for him to return to Leeds. We will monitor the situation and liaise with Cricket Australia. Finchy (Finch) hasn't played a lot of cricket since he came back from his injury, so 'Dizzy' (Jason Gillespie) spoke to him about playing in the Second XI.

"We thought it would be better spending time in the seconds and building it up again," he said.
