Cricket fans worldwide are ecstatic as AB de Villiers, the South African cricketing legend, announces his much-anticipated return to the game after nearly four years. De Villiers is known for his explosive batting and unmatched versatility.
He will lead the Game Changers South Africa Champions in the second edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL), a T20 tournament featuring cricket greats who have retired or are no longer contracted.

Reflecting on his comeback, de Villiers shared, "Four years ago, I retired from all cricket because I just didn't feel the urge to play any more. Well, time has passed, and my young sons have started playing the game. We've been playing more and more often in the garden, and, well, it feels as though some kind of flame has been lit again. So I am heading back to the gym and the nets, and I'll be ready for WCL in July."
The Game Changers squad previously featured icons like Jacques Kallis, Herschelle Gibbs, Dale Steyn, and Imran Tahir. With de Villiers now at the helm, the team looks forward to an electrifying season.
Amandeep Singh, Co-Owner of South Africa Champions and Founder of Game Changers, expressed his excitement, "AB de Villiers' return as captain is a monumental boost for our team. His leadership and presence will inspire us to reach new heights."
Harry Singh, another Co-Owner of the South Africa Champions, added, "AB is not just a player; he's an icon who has inspired millions worldwide. His decision to lead our team is a historic moment for the league."
The tournament's Founder and CEO, Harshit Tomar, also praised the return, "This is why we created the WCL - to bring back legends we miss. Seeing AB de Villiers return to the field is thrilling for fans everywhere."
Nishant Pitti, Chief Patron of the WCL, emphasized the league's vision, "The return of AB embodies the spirit of the WCL, a celebration of cricket's golden era. It's an iconic moment for the sport."
