New Delhi, Oct 24: Abhishek Sharma continues to redefine power-hitting in T20I cricket, rewriting the record books with his explosive batting and remarkable ability to clear the boundary. The Indian opener has been in impressive form, emerging as the team's second-best batter following Ishan Kishan's comeback to the side. His aggressive approach at the top of the order has made him one of India's most dangerous weapons in the shortest format.

The left-handed batter, currently ranked No. 2 in the T20I batting rankings, has now surpassed former India captain Rohit Sharma in a significant six-hitting record during the powerplay. While Rohit smashed 98 sixes in the first six overs after facing 1,672 balls, Abhishek has reached the milestone of 100 sixes in just 776 deliveries. The remarkable difference in the number of balls faced underlines Abhishek's extraordinary scoring rate and fearless approach, further establishing him as one of the most destructive batters in modern T20I cricket.

Abhishek Sharma Surpasses Rohit Sharma's Record

The Indian batter's achievement is particularly impressive considering the number of deliveries he needed to reach the milestone. Abhishek has struck 100 sixes in the powerplay in just 776 balls, surpassing former India captain Rohit Sharma's record of 98 sixes, which came off 1,672 deliveries.

The difference highlights Abhishek's extraordinary scoring rate and his ability to clear the boundary from the opening overs. His aggressive batting has made him a crucial part of India's T20I setup, especially as the team continues to embrace an attacking approach.

Abhishek has also enjoyed an impressive run of form, emerging as one of India's leading performers following Ishan Kishan's return to the side. His ability to dominate the powerplay has provided India with a significant advantage in setting targets and chasing challenging totals.

India Look To Build On Opening T20I Triumph

India entered the second match with a 1-0 lead after producing a stunning performance in the series opener. The visitors successfully chased down 226, registering the highest successful run chase in T20I history.

Abhishek and Samson were instrumental in that victory, combining for a blistering 93-run partnership during the powerplay. Their explosive start laid the foundation for the chase and allowed the middle order to play with freedom despite a brief collapse.

With Abhishek continuing to rewrite records, India will hope his attacking form helps them strengthen their advantage in the five-match series against New Zealand.
