Abhishek Sharma's T20 World Cup 2026 has not been satisfactory so far. The left-hander, known for explosive power at the top of the order, has struggled to find his form in this edition of the T20 World Cup, which has piled on to the problems for the Men in Blue.
Sharma failed to deliver at the second semifinal as well, chipping a legside ball off Will Jacks straight into the hands of Phil Salt. Despite the off-form of Sharma, head coach Gautam Gambhir has backed the youngster throughout the tournament.

Sharma had a horror start to the T20 World Cup 2026, scoring three ducks in a row against the United States, Pakistan, and the Netherlands in the group stages. However, once the team entered the Super 8, Sharma found some runs under his belt of 15(12), 55(30), and 10(11). However, his consistency at the top has been far from satisfactory.
The only match where the left-hander looked convincing was against Zimbabwe, where he scored a quickfire 55 off 30 at Chepauk.
The left-hand opener has so far played 45 T20I matches for India and has 1386 runs at an average of 30.80. The left-hander has an impressive strike rate of 188.77 and has 9 fifties and 2 centuries in the T20 format for India. He has also hit 135 fours and 93 sixes in his T20 career.
