Abishek Porel is aiming to showcase his prowess for Delhi Capitals in a grand manner in IPL 2025.
The southpaw was one of the retained players for DC for this season and is eager to repay the faith with a much bigger outing this time around. After a brief stint in 2023 and then a fantastic outing in 2024, Delhi spotted the gem and retained him ahead of mega auction.

Porel has demonstrated his class as a batter in T20 cricket. The Bengal player scored 327 runs last season and scored two fifties across the campaign. His hard-hitting ability, and nonchalant shotmaking caught the eye as he has retained as an uncapped for Rs 4 crore.
As a new cycle begins in the IPL, Porel wants to amplify his scoring spree in the IPL. In an exclusive interview with MyKhel, the Delhi Capitals player wishes to grow in statures this season.
"The same expectations that I had last year, I want to do something better than that, I want to make more runs than that. Maybe last year I played well in five to six innings out of 14 matches, this season I want to convert that to at least 10. So that will be good for the team and for me as well. And we will talk about the points that we have to work on," he said to MyKhel.
The 22-year-old also speaks on the influence of Sourav Ganguly in his career. The former India captain was honing an important role with Delhi Capitals and spotted his talent. And Abishek says Ganguly's nurture was the turning point of his life.
"To be honest, Sourav sir backed me a lot. Had he and the rest of the DC management not backed me, I wouldn't have come to this stage. I feel that Sourav sir was a turning point in my life. We keep talking to each other. Sometimes I ask him when I don't play well and obviously I take his advice."
As the new season approaches, Porel aims to bolster his stature in the realms of Indian cricket. Although he is a focused player, the southpaw says he himself is his biggest challenge.
"I think I am my biggest challenge. I have a mind which gets confused sometimes while dieting. My mind is my biggest enemy. I am trying to keep it calm so that my hard work doesn't get wasted."
