Abu Dhabi T10: Mohammad Amir bowled as per his reputation and wreaked havoc, as The Chennai Strikers lost four wickets in a single over of match number 23 of the Abu Dhabi T10 2023 against New York Strikers at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, December 6.
New York Strikers won the toss and invited The Chennai Strikers to bat first. Having lost three of their first five matches, Chennai sent the new opening pair of George Munsey and Kobe Herft in the middle.

After a silent first over, Mohammad Amir came in to bowl the second over and effected a run out on the first ball to send Herft packing for a one-ball duck. The left-arm pacer dismissed Munsey (6) on the second ball and then got the wickets of Sri Lanka stars Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Charith Asalanka on the fourth and sixth deliveries.
After losing four wickets and scoring no runs in the second over, Chennai found themselves reeling at 6/4. The side could not recover from the blows and were restricted to 75/9 in 10 overs. Amir finished with figures of 4/7 in 2 overs. He was adjudged Man of the Match for his stellar performance.
The win ensured a playoffs berth for New York Strikers with a match to spare. They will face Morrisville Samp Army in the Qualifier 1 on Friday, December 8.
In the ongoing tournament, Amir has picked five wickets in six matches at an average of 14.60 and a strike rate of 6.63. New York Strikers would expect the star pacer to play a key role in their knockout match as well.
Mohammad Amir recently declined an offer to play for Pakistan again. Pakistan cricket team's new director Mohammad Hafeez in a recent press conference revealed that he personally got in touch with Amir and offered him to take back his retirement. However, Amir declined the offer and said that he has moved on in his career and is happy playing franchise cricket.
