India U19 cruised to a 10-wicket victory over UAE U19 in the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2024 on December 4 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, securing their place in the semifinals. The win saw the Indian side chase down UAE’s modest total of 137 runs with ease, finishing at 143/0 in just 16.1 overs.
The star of the show was 13-year-old opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi, whose blistering knock of 76* propelled India towards victory. His innings was highlighted by four towering sixes, including one that flew out of the stadium, reminiscent of MS Dhoni’s powerful hits during the IPL 2023.

Suryavanshi, who took just 32 balls to reach his half-century, exhibited remarkable composure for his age, playing with exceptional flair and timing. Suryavanshi was well supported by fellow opener Ayush Mhatre, who contributed a solid 67* off 38 balls. Together, the pair added 143 runs without losing a wicket, dismantling the UAE attack with a flurry of boundaries. Mhatre also demonstrated his explosive batting skills, blasting several fours and sixes as the Indian openers dominated from the outset.
The UAE innings, which was restricted to 137 all out in 44 overs, never seemed enough to challenge India. Rayan Khan’s 35 was the top score for the UAE, but none of the other batters could build substantial partnerships. The Indian bowlers, led by Yudhajit Guha (3/15) and Chetan Sharma (2/28), kept the UAE batters on a tight leash, never allowing them to get into any rhythm.
The Indian team’s clinical performance also included standout bowling efforts, particularly from Guha, whose spell ensured the UAE batsmen were continuously under pressure. Sharma’s two wickets also played a crucial role in restricting UAE to a below-par total.
India U19’s dominant victory not only secured their semifinal berth but also showcased the raw talent of players like Suryavanshi, who are already showing signs of becoming future stars. With this win, India now await the outcome of the Pakistan U19 vs Japan U19 match to know their semifinal opponent. The Indian openers’ fearless display with the bat is sure to boost their confidence as they move ahead in the tournament.
