ACC Men's U19 Asia Cup 2024: Bangladesh U19 Beat India U19 by 59 Runs for Back-to-Back Titles

By MyKhel Staff

Bangladesh U19 scripted a remarkable 59-run victory over India U19 in the ACC Men's U19 Asia Cup 2024 final, defending a modest total of 198 to clinch their second consecutive title.

The match, held at the Dubai International Stadium, showcased Bangladesh's brilliance with both ball and strategy as they emerged as the undisputed champions. The effort of Iqbal Hasan Emon, who won both man of the match and man of the series, stood out while Azizul Hakim Tamim's captaincy stood out.

India U19 vs Bangladesh U19

Electing to bat first, Bangladesh U19 posted 198. Indian bowling pack dominated through and through but Farid Hasan's crucial knock of 39 runs down the order allowed Bangladesh U19 to put a fighting total.

India's chase started poorly, with opener Ayush Mhatre bowled for just 1 by Al Fahad. The Bangladeshi pacers, led by Maruf Mridha and Fahad, exploited the new ball conditions with precision. Left-arm pacer Mridha dismissed Vaibhav Suryavanshi cheaply, leaving India at 25/2 inside five overs. From there, India struggled to build any significant partnerships.

Andre Siddarth (20) and Karthikeya KP (21) attempted to stabilize the innings but fell prey to Bangladesh's relentless attack. Skipper Mohammed Amaan provided a glimmer of hope with a determined 26, while Hardik Raj's quick-fire 24 hinted at a potential comeback. However, both succumbed to the brilliance of Azizul Hakim Tamim, who was the star of the day with figures of 3/8. His dismissal of Amaan and the last Indian batter sealed the title for Bangladesh.

Iqbal Hasan Emon (3/24) was equally lethal, dismantling India's middle order. He claimed key wickets, including Karthikeya and Nikhil Kumar, with sharp movement and consistency. Al Fahad contributed two vital wickets, ensuring there was no let-up in pressure.

India's batting collapse, characterized by poor shot selection and lack of partnerships, was in stark contrast to Bangladesh's discipline and composure. The champions showcased a complete team effort, with their bowlers complementing the modest total brilliantly.

Bangladesh's victory marks a historic back-to-back U19 Asia Cup triumph and cements their position as a powerhouse in youth cricket. For India U19, the defeat serves as a learning curve, emphasizing the need for adaptability under pressure in key moments.
