By MyKhel Staff

India U19 stormed into the semifinals of the ACC Men's U19 Asia Cup 2024 with a commanding 10-wicket win over UAE U19 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on December 4.

The Indian team delivered an all-round performance to outclass the hosts, ensuring a smooth passage to the knockout stage where they will face Sri Lanka U19 in Sharjah. Vaibhav Suryavanshi (76 not out) and Ayush Mhatre (67 not out) starred with the bat after Indian bowlers bundled out the hosts for a paltry total.

After opting to bat, UAE U19 faltered against a disciplined Indian bowling attack, managing only 137 runs in 44 overs. Rayan Khan's 35 was the lone bright spot in an otherwise lackluster batting display. Yudhajit Guha spearheaded India's bowling effort, claiming 3/15 with clinical precision.

He received valuable support from Chetan Sharma (2/27) and Hardik Raj (2/28), who chipped in with crucial breakthroughs. Ayush Mhatre, better known for his batting, also picked up a key wicket, underlining India's all-around dominance. The UAE batters struggled to find rhythm, with the Indian bowlers maintaining relentless pressure throughout.

Chasing 138, India's openers, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre, put on a batting masterclass. The duo made light work of the target, combining explosive hitting with clever shot selection. Vaibhav's unbeaten 76 featured an array of sixes, including a towering strike to seal the victory. Ayush complemented him with a classy 67*, as both batters notched up quick half-centuries. The pair raced to 143/0 in just 16.1 overs, underscoring India's batting firepower and their readiness for tougher challenges ahead.

The match also showcased India's tactical acumen and depth. Whether it was their ability to extract early wickets or the seamless transition to spin, India executed their plans with precision. For UAE, despite the spirited efforts of Rayan Khan and Akshat Rai (26), their inability to build partnerships proved costly.

India's emphatic win not only secured their semifinal spot but also sent a strong message to their opponents. As they prepare to face Sri Lanka U19, the Indian side looks well-equipped to extend their dominance in the tournament. With a potent bowling attack and a firing top order, they have established themselves as serious contenders for the title.
