By MyKhel Staff

Pakistan U19 dominated Japan U19 with a resounding 180-run victory in their ACC Men's U19 Asia Cup 2024 Group A clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on December 4.

With the win, Pakistan U19 secured the top spot in the group, remaining unbeaten as they advanced to the semifinals. Mohammad Hufaiz starred with the ball as his 5/8 spell bundled out Japan U19 for 63 runs after Muhammad Riazullah's 66 not out took Pakistan to a strong target of 244 on the withering surface.

Opting to bat first, Pakistan U19 posted a formidable total of 243/6 in their allotted 50 overs. Opening batsman Shahzaib Khan provided a solid start with a knock of 45 runs, while Faham-ul-Haq added 34 runs to keep the scoreboard ticking.

The innings was anchored by Muhammad Riazullah, who remained unbeaten on 66, helping Pakistan reach a competitive total. Ahmed Hussain also contributed with a quick-fire 30* towards the end of the innings, ensuring Pakistan finished strong.

Japan U19's bowlers, Nihar Parmar and Kai Wall, tried to make inroads, with Parmar taking 2/18 from his 10 overs and Wall finishing with 1/32. However, their efforts were overshadowed by Pakistan's middle-order resilience and the clinical batting display.

In reply, Japan U19's chase never really gained momentum as Pakistan's bowlers wreaked havoc. Mohammad Hufaiza led the charge with a brilliant 5/8, dismantling Japan's batting lineup with precision. Hufaiza's remarkable spell included a devastating period where he took back-to-back wickets, leaving Japan reeling at 56/8. Mohammad Ahmad also played a vital role, claiming 2/9, as Japan struggled to find any stability.

Nihar Parmar (25) was the only Japanese batter to show some resistance, but his efforts were not enough to counter Pakistan's dominance. Japan were bowled out for just 63 runs in 28.3 overs, well short of the target of 244. The Pakistani bowlers' discipline and pressure saw them take wickets at regular intervals, making the chase a mere formality.

This dominant performance solidified Pakistan U19's position as Group A toppers, and they will face Bangladesh U19 in the semifinals on December 6 in Dubai, full of confidence after this commanding win.
