Adidas has agreed to a deal with BCCI as the new kit sponsor of the Indian national cricket team, confirmed the Indian cricket board's general secretary Jay Shah in a social media post on Monday.
Details of the new sponsorship deal, including its quantum and financial arrangements, are yet to be made public as the famed German sportswear company will replace MPL, a sports merchandise of Mobile Premier League, as the kit manufacturer.

"I'm pleased to announce @BCCI's partnership with @adidas as a kit sponsor. We are committed to growing the game of cricket and could not be more excited to partner with one of the world's leading sportswear brands. Welcome aboard, @adidas," wrote
Reports of collaboration with Adidas were making rounds for a while now after MPL expressed to the board that it won't be able to continue as the kit sponsor till the agreed time period of December 2023.
MPL bagged the kit contract back in November 2020 as per which the agreement was of paying a total of Rs 9 crore for three years. BCCI was entitled to be paid Rs 65 lakh per match during the period.
However, MPL pulled back as the kit sponsor a year before the agreed contract in December last year. Following their departure, Kewal Kiran Clothing Limited (KKCL), owner of Killer Jeans, was roped in as kit sponsors for five months. During the period, KKCL only sported its logo on Team India's jersey while MPL remained the kit manufacturer.
