Afghanistan A will face Hong Kong in Match 9 of the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024 on Tuesday, October 22 at Al Amerat Stadium in Oman.
Both teams will come into the match with contrasting fortunes. While Afghanistan A have won both their matches so far against Sri Lanka A and Bangladesh A, Hong Kong have struggled to get any results in the tournament.

Nizakat Khan and Co. lost their first match against Bangladesh A despite a strong batting display and then went on to lose against the Sri Lankan team by 42 runs.
While Afghanistan A will look to continue their perfect record in the tournament on Tuesday, Hong Kong will look to get their first taste of victory against a strong opponent at the Al Amerat stadium.
Afghanistan A and Hong Kong are yet to meet each other in List A matches so far, or in any other format as far as records are available. As such, Tuesday’s clash will be the first time that these two opponents have come face to face on the cricket field.
Before crafting a two-match winning streak against Sri Lanka A (11 runs) and Bangladesh A (four wickets) in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024, the Afghan second-tier team came from their tour of Sri Lanka, winning both of their last two ODI matches. However, they ultimately lost the series as they lost the first three ODI matches against the Lankans.
Before losing their first two matches in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024, they participated in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier A. In the last three games of the tournament, Hong Kong defeated the Maldives by nine wickets and then faced a narrow three-run loss to Malaysia. The final match between Hong Kong and Kuwait was abandoned due to bad weather.
