Mumbai, March 2: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday (March 2) announced the schedule for Afghanistan's tour of India in June 2026, a series that will begin soon after the conclusion of the 2026 IPL season.
The tour gains added significance as it will mark the first-ever bilateral ODI series between India and Afghanistan. Earlier, the two teams have only featured in ODIs in the multi-lateral tournaments.

The series will open with a one-off Test match in New Chandigarh from June 6 to June 10, starting at 9:30 AM IST. Following the red-ball fixture, the two teams will lock horns in a three-match ODI series beginning June 14 in Dharamshala. The remaining matches are scheduled for June 17 in Lucknow and June 20 in Chennai, with all ODIs set to start at 1:30 PM IST.
The ODI leg could also witness the return of senior Indian stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in India colours. The experienced duo are currently featuring only in the 50-over format for India, and their availability is likely to bolster the hosts in what promises to be a competitive series against a steadily rising Afghanistan side.
With the series scheduled immediately after the IPL 2026, player workload management and squad rotation will be key talking points. At the same time, fans can expect packed stadiums across venues, especially for the ODI series that brings together two teams with growing competitive history in white-ball cricket.
