Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka Playing 11, World Cup 2023: Afghanistan and Sri Lanka will be up against each other in the ICC World Cup 2023 on Monday (October 30) at the MCA Stadium in Pune.

Afghanistan and Sri Lanka's World Cup semifinal hopes are hanging on a thread. Two teams have won two matches each after playing five, and they know a win will keep them in the hunt.

The Afghans got a statement win over Pakistan in their last match, which was equally reciprocated by the Lankans with a huge win over reigning champions England.

Sri Lanka will have to make a change to their team as Lahiru Kumara got injured in the training. Dushmantha Chameera looks the likely replacement and is set to play against Afghanistan.

Sri Lanka recalled their veteran star Angelo Mathews in the World Cup squad and that paid dividends in the match against England. Also their batting clicked with Sadeera Samarawickrama and captain Kusal Mendis shining. The bowling was also excellent against an aggressive English batting lineup.

Afghanistan were pretty decent with their bowling in the last match, but it was the batting which stood out. Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and other stamped their authority and dismantled a paper-strong Pakistan bowling outfit. They will garner a lot of confidence from the victory and will be hopeful of replicating the same against Sri Lanka.
