After the Champions Trophy 2025 fiasco where hosts Pakistan were embarrassingly eliminated after losing the first two games, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are in discussions to organise a white-ball series in July-August 2025.
This prospective series aims to feature three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), adding a thrilling chapter to the cricketing calendar.

The dialogue between the two boards gained momentum following a meeting between PCB head Mohsin Naqvi and BCB president Faruque Ahmed in Dubai during the ongoing Champions Trophy, as per a report by Cricbuzz.
While no final decision has been reached, both boards have expressed optimism about the series materialising. BCB's cricket operations head, Shahriar Nafees, said, "BCB and PCB are in discussion about it (bilateral series)... and at the moment both boards are positive about it."
This potential series would be an addition to the already packed 2025 cricket schedule for both nations. According to the International Cricket Council's Future Tours Programme (FTP), Bangladesh is slated to tour Pakistan in May 2025 for a series comprising three ODIs and three T20Is.
Following this, Bangladesh has commitments against Sri Lanka in June-July, featuring two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is. The proposed series against Pakistan would fit into a brief window between the Sri Lanka series and Bangladesh's home series against India in August-September, which includes three ODIs and three T20Is.
For Pakistan, accommodating this additional series would require adjustments to their existing schedule. As per their current itinerary, Pakistan is set to tour the West Indies in July-August 2025 for a series of three ODIs and three T20Is, followed by a home series against Afghanistan in August, featuring three T20Is.
Integrating the Bangladesh series would necessitate careful rescheduling to manage player workloads and logistical considerations.
The enthusiasm surrounding this potential series is palpable among fans and stakeholders alike. Historically, matches between Bangladesh and Pakistan have been fiercely competitive, often delivering high-octane cricketing action.
Organising this series would not only provide both teams with valuable match practice ahead of major tournaments like the Asia Cup in September 2025 but also offer fans additional opportunities to witness top-tier cricket.
However, several logistical challenges need to be addressed to bring this series to fruition. Venue availability in Bangladesh during the proposed window is a critical factor, especially considering the monsoon season, which could affect pitch conditions and scheduling.
Additionally, both boards must navigate player fatigue and ensure that the series does not overburden athletes, given the congested international calendar. Moreover, ensuring robust security measures and adhering to international cricketing standards are paramount to the successful execution of the series, especially considering the high-profile goof-ups that happened during the Champions Trophy 2025 matches.
