After disappointing IPL 2025 stint, former CSK star joins Trinbago Knight Riders as Head Coach

By MyKhel Staff

The Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) have officially appointed former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo as the team's new Head Coach ahead of the 2025 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season. The announcement follows Bravo's retirement from professional cricket last year and marks a new phase in his longstanding association with the franchise.

Bravo's elevation to head coach is a natural progression, given his long-term commitment to TKR and extensive experience in T20 cricket. A four-time CPL champion and former TKR captain, Bravo brings a wealth of knowledge from his playing career and more recently from his involvement in coaching roles within the Knight Riders Group.

After failed IPL 2025 stint former CSK star joins Knight Riders as Head Coach

Following his retirement, Bravo served as a mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League. However, his impact in that position was limited, as the team failed to meet expectations during the IPL 2025 season. He is currently the Head Coach of LA Knight Riders in Major League Cricket, where he has been more actively involved in player development and team strategy.

Speaking on his appointment, Bravo said, "It's an honor to be given the opportunity to be Head Coach of TKR, a team that's very close to my heart. I would like to personally thank Coach Phill for his time and commitment over the last few years, and now I look forward to this new challenge for me and my staff."

"DJ Bravo has been an integral part of making TKR the most successful franchise in CPL history. He has given everything to this team as a player and captain. While his mentoring role at KKR didn't bring the results we hoped for, we believe his passion, experience, and deep understanding of T20 cricket will serve TKR well as head coach," he said.

Bravo's appointment comes at a time of transition for TKR, with the franchise looking to build on its strong legacy in the CPL. With a focus on developing local talent and maintaining competitiveness, the team views Bravo's leadership as a step toward long-term growth.
