The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made history by appointing Hina Munawar as the first female team manager for the Pakistan men's cricket team ahead of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. Munawar is a seasoned police officer with extensive experience in security and operations.
Her appointment marks a significant step towards inclusivity in Pakistan cricket. Munawar has been assigned the role of Operations Manager for both the Champions Trophy and the upcoming Tri-Nation Series, set to begin in Karachi on February 19.

Despite the presence of veteran bureaucrat Naveed Akram Cheema as the official team manager, her appointment has generated significant interest among cricket fans, experts, and the media.
Hina Munawar's career in law enforcement is marked by several groundbreaking achievements. She served in the high-risk Swat region as part of the Frontier Constabulary and was the first female district officer in the force, breaking barriers in a traditionally male-dominated field.
After passing the Civil Superior Services exam, Munawar took on various leadership and security roles, showcasing her ability to handle high-pressure environments. In 2023, she joined the PCB and was appointed manager of the Pakistan women's under-19 team for the Asia Cup, further solidifying her credentials in sports management.
A source close to the PCB told PTI, "Perhaps her appointment is aimed at streamlining operations within the team and between players and the board, as she has worked in strategic and leadership roles, helping to streamline various operations."
Munawar's expertise in security and organizational efficiency is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the traditionally coaching-focused and male-dominated team management structure. As she takes on the role of Operations Manager, Munawar will play a crucial part in ensuring smooth coordination between the PCB, players, and coaching staff.
Her appointment reflects the PCB's ongoing efforts to modernize and create a more structured and efficient management system. Since Munawar remains an active officer in the Police Service of Pakistan, it is believed that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi brought her on deputation to strengthen the board's operational capabilities.
