New Delhi, May 15: South Africa captain and a key player for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Aiden Markram, has high praise for teammate Abhishek Sharma's performance in the ongoing IPL 2024 season.
With a strike rate of over 200 and 401 runs in 12 matches, Sharma, alongside Australian Travis Head, has created waves in the ongoing season for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Their recent achievement includes chasing down a target of over 160 runs in less than 10 overs against the Lucknow Super Giants. Markram, in an interview with PTI Videos, lauded the duo as "brothers of destruction."
Markram expressed his confidence in Sharma's potential to represent India at an international level soon, citing his impressive progress this season. He highlighted Sharma's calm demeanour and an optimistic outlook toward his cricketing journey.
"He's got a very calm and level head on his shoulders and he'll take everything in his stride. But my fingers are certainly crossed for him to go to higher honours," Markram said about the 23-year-old left-hander.
The introduction of the impact player rule in the IPL has been a topic of discussion among cricket enthusiasts and players alike. Markram shared his thoughts on how this rule has allowed for a more aggressive approach to the game.
He believes that having an extra batter in the lineup gives players, especially openers, the freedom to play more boldly from the beginning of the innings. This, according to Markram, has contributed to the evolution of a new brand of T20 cricket in the IPL.
Markram also praised the leadership of Bhuvneshwar Kumar within the team's bowling unit. Despite challenges posed by the impact player rule and aggressive batting strategies by opponents, Kumar's calm and effective leadership has been instrumental in the team's performance.
"I don't think he's (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) ever lost it, to be honest. He sort of leads from the front in his own calm and silent way. It's been fantastic for us to watch," Markram commented.
On a personal note, Markram addressed his own performance in the current IPL season. With 199 runs from nine matches, he acknowledged a dip in form but remains positive about his contribution and effort.
Markram stressed the importance of hard work off the field and readiness for future opportunities, whether in the IPL or other cricketing avenues. "And if it doesn't work out, then whatever cricket lies ahead, you trust that this preparation puts you in a good state for that," he concluded.
