Ajay Jadeja will be next Jam Saheb of Nawanagar (now Jamnagar), the incumbent Maharaja Shatrusalyasinhji Digvijaysinhji Jadeja has announced in an official statement.
In a letter shared by news agency ANI, Shatrusalyasinhji Digvijaysinhji Jadeja stated that Ajay has agreed to become his heir. Shatrusalyasinhji, the current Jam Saheb of Nawanagar, is the cousin brother of Ajay Jadeja's father.

"The festival of Dussehra is believed to mark the day the Pandavas emerged victorious from exile. Today, on Dussehra, I am equally happy, as I have found a resolution to one of my dilemmas thanks to Ajay Jadeja, who has accepted to be my heir," said Shatrusalyasinhj in the official statement.
The house of Jamnagar has a rich cricketing history. KS Ranjitsinhji and KS Duleepsinhji belong from the same royal rajput family of Gujarat. Prestigious domestic tournaments Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy have been named after them.
Ajay Jadeja who was born in 1971 in Jamnagar (then Nawanagar) is descendant of the royal Jamnagar family. The 53-year-old played 15 Test matches and 196 ODIs for India from 1992 to 2000. He scored over 5000 runs in ODIs, and was also famous for his fielding. He has also acted in movies, donned the role of cricket commentator, expert and team mentor for Afghanistan cricket team during the World Cup 2023.
Jadeja's father Daulatsinhji Jadeja, was a three-time Member of Parliament from Jamnagar while his mother hails from Alappuzha in Kerala. Ajay Jadeja is married to Aditi Jaitly, the daughter of politician Jaya Jaitly and the couple have two children, Aiman and Ameera.
