Amitabh, Salman, Kareena get notice for 'obscene' dance

Chennai, Jul 19: An advocate K Jebakuma hurled shocking allegations against many Bollywood superstars including Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and many others.

In a petition, the advocate claimed that the actors, many other celebrities and dignitaries had committed offences under various IPC sections while participating in the inaugural ceremony of IPL-V at YMCA grounds in Chennai on Apr 3.

Citing the petition, Madras High Court bench in Madurai on Wednesday, Jul 18 sent notice to Indian cricket board (BCCI) chief N Srinivasan along with the above mentioned celebrities of Bollywood.

The petition also included the names of Indian Premier League chairman Rajeev Shukla, American pop star Katy Perry, Australian cricketer and Chennai Super Kings member Douglas Bolinger and a Sony Set Max TV official who also received the legal notice.

According to the petitioner, the dance and performances of the celebrities were "obscene and lascivious, appealing to the prurient interest". The performance, video clippings and photographs of such dances and "uncensored" telecast allegedly had distracted students who were taking examinations at that time.

Chennai police also have been accused of not taking prompt actions following the complaints lodged by the advocate. Posting the case to Jul 31, the judge of the court slammed the police asking, "Why this inaction (on the complaint filed by the petitioner)?"
